After facilitating numerous LifeForce courses and events I realize that stress comes from stubbornly clinging to things. You cling to the idea that everything has to happen exactly as you imagine, and it makes life difficult when it doesn't happen.
For example we cling to these thoughts:
βLife shouldnβt be like this, I want it to change.β
I can't be happy if I don't have a single thing.
I am always right, others are always wrong.
This person must love me and want to be with me.
I shouldn't be alone, overweight or the way I am now, etc. Β»
But in reality, these ideas are not real, they are just ideas, thoughts. By holding them back, we create unnecessary stress, anxiety, unhappiness, pride, self-hatred, and sadness. You are not your thoughts!
So how can we stop holding on so tightly? πHere are 4 simple and powerful strategies:
π¬οΈ Breathe and let everything breathe: Take a deep breath and let your lungs, your body and your environment breathe. Accept things as they are, without trying to control them. πΈ
π Float and accept your reality : Imagine yourself floating in a pool, abandon all expectations and simply accept the present reality. Don't struggle to grab what's not there, relax and let the water carry you . πββοΈ
β Question the stories you tell yourself : Question negative or troubling thoughts by saying β The story I tell myself is β¦β and question their veracity. Explore other perspectives and give yourself space to think constructively. π€
πΉ Put the glass down : Imagine a glass of water and realize that the weight of the glass matters less than the time you carry it. Learn to put down your mental burdens and not carry them unnecessarily. π±
A big part of the practice of letting go is gradually renewing your faith in yourself. This βrenewal of faithβ means finding the will to live with uncertainty, to let your intuition guide you like a flashlight in the darkness. πͺπ
So, what if, for today, you chose to believe that you have enough and that you are enough ? What if, for today, you chose to believe that you are strong enough, wise enough, kind enough, and loved enough to take a positive step forward? What if, for today, you accepted people as they are, and life as it is? What if, when the sun sets on this day, you choose to believe that the small progress you made is more than enough for one day? What if, tomorrow, you chose to believe him again?β¨π
I hope these tips will be useful for you to practice letting go on a daily basis! ππ
